An excellent alternative to a string quartet is an accordion and guitar duo performing some French and Spanish music, this combo provides a delightful romantic ambiance for wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions and is now accessable in Sydney at http://www.musicians.net.au
In addition to playing French music the musette accordion and acoustic guitar provide a distinctive French flavour to most types of other music they perform as well, including: Latin, Spanish, Gypsy jazz, Classic show tunes, American swing and jazz music.
The duo are the founding musicians of Viva the band (quartet) who add a Latin, salsa element with two vocalists percussion, congas and extra guitar and bass. The quartet is very popular for wedding receptions.
Recently Viva the band have taken their French Spanish and salsa style music to Asia where they performed on television and throughout Taiwan in August 2004 at the Tainan International Arts Festival and in July 2005 at the Kenting International Song Festival
Other recent themed performances by Viva the band include : “Moulin Rouge” function at Tumbalong Ballroom, “A Night in Paris” at the18th Yalumba Jazz Festival at Thredbo, “A Night in the French Quarter” at the master builders club, Wollongong, promotion for “Les Genies de la Mer- Masterpieces of French Naval Sculpture”, “A French” themed function at Kiama Jazz club, a PAN event at Sydney Royal Easter Show,The Miss World ball at the Four Points by Sheraton, Darling Harbour, Tour D’France awards at Lindemans winery Pokolbin, functions at The Summit Testaurant, Apres bar, Credo restaurant, weddings at Ecco restaurant, Enzo, Qvb Terroirs Villa Provence, Peppers Resort, Oatlands House, Hopewood Estate. International College of Tourism, “A Night in Paris” at Doltone House, Weddings at Balmoral, etc.etc..
