Description

One thing everyone agrees on who has ever worked at a wedding is the vitally important role of the music and MC. The second indisputable fact is that those who make bad choices have no second chance to rectify it. It is one of lives few experiences that do not have our instinctive saviour.. a learning curve.

Make sure you allocate the importance and resources to music. Some couples have spent extravagant amounts on other photos, videos, etc and later regretted skimping on the music. We are delighted to share our learning curve with you.. here are our FAQ

BAND OR DJ?

There are good and bad bands and DJ's. Personality, track record, presentation, experience at being MC, charisma, great sound and lighting are some of the key factors. These criteria rule out many acts already. DJ's claim a large selection of music but live wedding duos ( such as ours and others) have over 500 songs from Sinatra, Rock, Kylie, Robbie, Abba and many styles. More couples are using wedding duo/trios because there is a special powerful magic from live singing that can never be replicated by a DJ.( Compare listening to a Robbie Williams record to BEING at a live concert) Also make sure the band has several musical styles to cater for all ages.

SHOULD I USE A MUSIC AGENT OR GO DIRECT WITH A BAND?

There are good and bad agents. The fact is that most of the experienced wedding duo/trios market direct to the client. These give you the advantage of direct, accurate information from people who will be doing the wedding. These top acts provide FREE advice, comprehensive website and often a DVD. Many clients and bands avoid agents due to criticisms such as poor service, taking up to 40% commission for doing very little, poor information on worksheets, taking months to pay the band, listing hundreds of acts "supermarket"style
without recommending the 5% that are the top professionals.

WHO SHOULD MC?

The singular most common problem is the family MC. Some are magnificent but most detract from the reception. The art of public speaking, microphone technique and crowd control comes from experience. Typically when things go wrong they normally involve not waiting for silence, mumbling and rushing the announcements, being too far from the microphone ( 5 cm is normally ideal depending on the system)
and not knowing the protocol. To save time, money and avoid this we suggest to choose a band that includes MC. It is special to have a family member MC so get him or her to meet the band 30 minutes before anyone comes in the room. Practice can be done to avoid any of the above problems. Also sound check the venue PA. If it is not clear and loud use the band's! The band can fill in any bits left out later such as garter/bouquet.

PRODUCTION.

Sound and lighting create atmosphere and emotion. Some acts are lazy and have little or no lighting. Choose bands with several lights and possibly lighting effects. Also a quality sound system.Separate sub woofers add bass and punch for dance numbers.

If one act is unavailable on your date normally they can recommend another who is highly experienced with a comprehensive website.
