Description

How do you know what is the best shape gown for your figure type.
Use this simple guide.

Full Figure:
An overlay of georgette or lace will be more flattering. Avoid shiny fabrics. Texture in the form of embroidery and beading is very good. Also rouching.

Pear shape:
A-line skirts are a must. Angled lines draw the eye up and down.

Large Bust:
Wide straps are good to hide bra straps for extra support.Sweetheart and v necklines make the most of your assets. Also use v crossover necklines.

Small Bust:
Slim straps can give you extra reassurance that your dress won't fall down. Bra inserts can be stitched into the dress. With boning and a close fit strapless shouldn't give any real problems. A dressmaker can bring it in at the sides to fit firmly.

Thick Waist:
Asymetrical rouching will disguise the waist. Also use vertical seams or an empire line.

Petite Figure:
Keep the design fairly simple with lighter weight fabrics. You don't want to be overwhelmed by your dress.

Of course there are always exceptions to any rule and if it looks good on you and you love it go ahead.

What colour to wear:
You may want to be married in pristine white or may prefer a softer ivory. Nowadays nobody worries if you are the virgin bride in white or not. After all, ivory or creme are just other shades of white.
Hair Skin Gown Colour
dark olive or fair white
blonde olive or fair soft white
warm blonde tanned ivory
red fair creme
